Power Digestion

Fig. 1 Envisioning the Vajra Shovel

Many students have requested more details on digestion yoga, so we will now outline basic procedureses and Ethics!

We have already mentioned the importance of food inhalation. However, perhaps even more essential is the preparation and purification of the mind and body before, during, and after the practice session.

*Preliminary stretching of the neck, gums, and tongue muscles is essential. See instructions on Chameleon Posture below.

Step 1. Apporach: After stretching, approach your food in a straight line. Always keep in mind the illusory nature of tangible earthly goods, and focus your single-pointed attention on the food. If it seems to move, maintain your position of direct confrontation until the image of the food stabilizes.

Step 2. Constructing the Digestive Mandala: Circle the food in a counterclockwise spiral several times. Envision your mouth as the Vajra Shovel and plunge into the food, scooping with the lower jaw. Snuffle loudly to activate your sensory organs to their highest awareness. (See fig. 1)

Step 3. Purification of the Mandala: Maintain a power trot to the purification site. Adopt meditation pose and count breaths until your body is cleansed of all impurities. Perform ritual burial of said impurities by ceremoniously whisking the site and recitation of the Nose Jewel Mantra (Snor Snee Snu Hum).

Return to step one and repeat the exercise.

After the meditation session, it is very important to engage in cleansing ceremonies to clear one's mind and purify the body in preparation for worldly activities. See previous section on Chameleon Posture.

Next time: Applying SnaggleYoga to Our Relationships: We will discuss the basic pattern for perceiving other beings with total equanimity and distributing the Diamond Mucous equally to all.

Nice Gary Snyder reference. The promise of ripened blackberries and perfect enlightenment is surely becoming a tantalizing reality for many who read this.
